Manchester-based photographer, Matthew Comer, put together an impressive video documenting his stay at the Renaissance Blackstone in Chicago not all that long ago. It caught our eye and we had to learn more about this guy.
It didn’t take us long to realize that Matthew is a pretty well-known photographer with images displayed in Urban Outfitters, among other places. On top of that, he was a part of a recent competition centered around Route 66. We couldn’t help but pin him down to find out more about what he does, how he wound up at Blackstone, and what he thought.
There are certain musicians we just like at Renaissance. ELEW, the acclaimed Rockjazz pianist, is one of our favorites—and it seems like he likes us back. On top of performing at Renaissance Hotels in the past, ELEW recently just filmed part of his new music video at Renaissance Hollywood Hotel & Spa.
Atop the building on the helipad, ELEW shot the video for his own version of Nirvana’s 90’s hit, “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” We loved the video and think you will too. You can watch more of his videos on his official YouTube page.
Note: Hollywood’s helipad loves ELEW but has seen more celebrities than just ELEW. The helipad at Renaissance Hollywood assists high-profile VIP guests in getting in and out of the hotel easily without the glare of paparazzi cameras. For all of the hard work the helipad puts in at the hotel, it’s about time it was rewarded with a music video of its own.
The marriage between Renaissance and Maxwell is getting steamier. Between Maxwell’s hotel appearances and killer shows on this tour, we’re pretty psyched to be joining forces with him. Check out this video clip below of Maxwell meeting fans at the Renaissance Blackstone Chicago.

Remember those shaky home films you used to show at family events? You felt like an auteur when you made them – and a little seasick after you viewed them later.
Those days are soooooooooo over.
Now, any Scorscese wannabe with an iPhone (or Google Android, or Blackberry) can make a great, quality short film. And there’s a place to showcase them – MoFilm, a community for people who love being creative with their mobile devices.
Even big-shot filmmakers like as Robert Redford, Kevin Spacey, Spike Lee, Isabella Rossellini are getting in on it. Check out mofilm.com (or download the MoFilm app from iTunes) and see what’s been submitted. Look below to see who won for Renaissance:
