Chefs vs. City is one of those Food Network shows people have a hard time turning off. The show stars two chefs, Aaron Sanchez and Chris Cosentino, who travel to different cities across the US and essentially battle local chefs to a variety of food-related challenges. Unlike other chef-focused shows, Chefs vs. City isn’t just about who cooks the better meal. It’s more like a free-for-all, sudden-death match testing skills… like who can eat a bowl filled with the spiciest food… and who can eye the weight of food more accurately.
The show’s stars are checking into The Mayflower Renaissance in DC. At 10pm tonight, the series will cap its second season with an episode dedicated to DC and a contest at The Mayflower. Since the show’s general structure is that of a scavenger hunt, each episode winds up being, more or less, an insider’s culinary tour of the city at hand.
“While we are not at liberty to discuss either the nature of the challenge or its outcome prior to its screening,” said General Manager Satinder Palta, “I can promise that the excitement begins from the moment the teams pull up to our grand entrance on Connecticut Avenue.”
Sounds delicious. Tune into the Food Network tonight to catch this bound-to-be-great season finale.
Earlier this year we mentioned Raphael Saadiq’s new album and tour. We were really excited about his return, so excited in fact that we were a sponsor of his tour. While on the road Raphael stopped by for frequent meet and greets at our hotel. And let us tell you, the man has it together: charm, style and substance. Take a look at some up, close and personal shots from the smooth troubadour’s visit to The Renaissance Mayflower Hotel.
Doesn’t get much more local than this: Supermodel Hilary Rhoda, from the DC area and of Estee Lauder fame, just appeared on the cover of the local glossy, Capital File Magazine. Rhoda told POLITICO it was gratifying to appear on the cover of the local magazine “because it’s a much more personal thing than just being in a magazine.” Her celebration capped off a year that included being part of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and the face of Estee Lauder. The lavish affair was held at none other than the Town & Country Bar at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in DC. It was truly an evening that hit home.
Congrats to Hilary on her fantastic year…she looks fabulous. Thanks to Politico.com for the scoop.
Rock star bartender Sambonn Lek and his signature cocktails have long been a fave of Washington’s elite. People flock to The Renaissance Mayflower Hotel’s Town & Country Bar for these premium cocktails, as well as the bar’s world-class charm and first-class service.
While the amazing service will never change, the distinguished bar recently introduced a new look, killer happy hour menu, and more.
The journos and press have been buzzing about this classic DC bar. Come see what its all about…
Rat-a-tat-tat, baby. Jazz has always been an improvisation. We like to scat as much as much as any R-Lifer, but sometimes it’s simply best left to the professionals. Take jazz pianist Eric Lewis, for example, when he took the stage at last Wednesday’s VIP kickoff at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel for the Atlantic Magazine’s “First Draft in History” event.
