Guest Navigator: Bad Rabbits Present Boston and New York City

By R Life, posted Nov 15th 2011 at 3:28AM

BadRabbits_1

There are bands whose music you can’t stop listening to, and then there are bands whose live show can change your entire life. That’s Bad Rabbits, a slick funk five-piece with buckets of swagger and a singer, Fredua Boakye, whose ripping vocals have been compared to Prince. Their 2009 debut EP, Stick Up Kids, won hearts and bobbing heads from a party-ready audience just as diverse as the band itself.

These Boston natives have been busy touring ever since, sharing the stage with such pop heavyweights as Mike Posner, Travie McCoy, Far East Movement, and Foxy Shazam. Before they take a well-deserved break from the road, be sure to see them perform at one of our upcoming RLife LIVE shows:

11/16/2011 @ Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel
11/17/2011 @ Renaissance Arlington Capital View
11/18/2011 @ Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel
11/19/2011 @ Renaissance Waterfront Hotel Boston

Who’s Afraid of the 13th Floor?

By R Life, posted Oct 12th 2011 at 12:15PM

Blake Lively at the Renaissance Times Square

We’re big fans of any holiday involving candy and ghosts. To celebrate Halloween we teamed up with Madame Tussauds — the world famous wax museum — to haunt our 13th Floor suites with the “Dare to Check-In” Halloween package.  At the Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel, our scary suite got spook-tested by the always-lovely Blake Lively.

Blake checked out the bone-chilling décor of twisted arms and grasping hands,  the stares of life-like wax figures, drapes of cobwebs and chains, while enjoying a signature Renaissance blood martini. Blake smiled throughout her visit, pointing out the creepy crawly details of this eerie suite and enjoyed a tarot card reading. As dozens of media outlets around the world mentioned, this was Blake’s first public appearance following her recent break-up with Leonard DiCaprio. Immersed in her reading with our mystic, Blake was in high spirits.  What her cards said remains in the chamber of secrets. But days later Blake was spotted snuggling with heartthrob Ryan Reynolds in Boston.

You, too, can enjoy the “Dare to Check-In” suite, available for four nights only this October 28th to 31st for $5,000 per haunting night. It is a unique package, for those who dare. Not only will ghoulish guests stay in a suite decorated by Madame Tussauds, but they will also get to evaporate into the After Dark VIP Tour of Madame Tussauds New York and receive complimentary chilling cocktails in R Lounge, the hotel’s popular restaurant and bar overlooking the dazzling action of Times Square.

New Year’s IS New York, and you can win a chance to celebrate with us in the totally sold out Renaissance RLounge overlooking Times Square. Two lucky people can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime, VIP experience compliments of RLifeTM LIVE.

Around 10pm on New Year’s Eve, we’ll shine a spotlight from the hotel down onto the Times Square crowd and pick one winner and a friend from the crowd. You’ll come upstairs to enjoy an invitation-only party at the RLounge complete with complimentary cocktails, Blue Ribbon sushi, performances by Rev Run and Bruno Mars, an exclusive meet-and-greet with the talent and front-row seats to the midnight ball drop… the very best seats to watch from.

Here’s exactly how you can get in the running: starting at 8pm on New Year’s Eve, Renaissance representatives will be at the corner of 48th and 7th handing out a limited number of “Pick me!” signs. Be there to grab your sign—then be outside of the Renaissance Times Square by 10pm and wave your sign when the spotlight turns on. If you’ve got a sign, you’re eligible to be picked; it’s the only way into this sold-out event. Good luck!

Celebrate NYE at Renaissance Times Square

By R Life, posted Nov 30th 2010 at 10:02AM

Times-Square-New-Yearevent_tag
The already-busy streets of Times Square get even busier each year on New Year’s Eve. Jam-packed with partiers waiting for the ringing in of the New Year, the bright city lights set the cold crowd aglow as anticipation for midnight begins. Stuck standing in the freezing snow for hours without much mobility, the people outside on New Year’s Eve will undoubtedly wish they were enjoying the action inside at the posh party at Renaissance Times Square. You could be at that party.

This year’s New Year’s Eve celebration at the Living Room inside of Renaissance Times Square is bound to beat the shivering alternative outside. Each ticket to the party includes an all-night premium open bar, an intimate live performance by Bruno Mars, a direct view of the world-famous Waterford Crystal Ball, all-you-can-eat gourmet fare (including grub from New York favorites, Blue Ribbon), and late-night dancing to a surprise DJ. At midnight, guests not satisfied with the view of the ball from RLounge will be escorted to Times Square to check out the ball-drop in person.

Basically, you can do NYE in Times Square the good way or the bad way. And Renaissance isn’t the bad way. That’s all we’re sayin’.

Reserve your spot today, so you’re not left out in the cold.

RLife LIVE Rocks the Party in NYC and Chicago

By R Life, posted Nov 2nd 2010 at 3:16PM

We love magical nights. Those nights when you step out of your door, turn the corner, and run right into your favorite celeb. Basically, nights when you know something really good is going to happen. That was exactly the feeling on Thursday night in New York’s Times Square and downtown Chicago as RLifeTM LIVE launched into full gear.

At the RLounge in Times Square, Solange Knowles kicked off the evening DJing a 2-hour set of some of the freshest R&B classics to date. As the dance floor started bumping, Robin Thicke took to the stage and rocked the crowd with his slick demeanor and soaring vocals. After his show, Samantha Ronson donned the DJ booth and cranked it up with some high-energy dance and hip-hop hits. Additional celeb sightings included Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick, as well as Friday Night Lights star, Minka Kelly.

The night was just as busy at Renaissance Chicago Downtown. With their pop-meets-rock-n-roll flair, rising stars Neon Trees performed their smash hit, “Animal,” to an animated crowd of partygoers. We also celebrated the 1-year anniversary of our acclaimed Bar Novo.

And thanks to the intimate setting of both of these events, everyone in the room had a front-row view of the performance. Just like running into a celebrity – except this time, they’re there just for you.

Of course, there’s more fun to be had. Check out our Facebook page for more info on upcoming RLife LIVE events and featured artists, as well as photos from the NYC and Chicago launches.

People use a lot of words to describe New York City. “Expensive” is one of those words. And sure, this adjective fits the bill. Usually. But one thing travelers often overlook is the abundance of free stuff in New York.

During the summers, concerts at Central Park’s Summer Stage are the fee-free place to be. Make sure you go—especially if you’re staying at Renaissance New York Hotel 57 or Renaissance New York Times Square. Both hotels are within walking distance from the park. Check out the Central Park Summer Stage concert calendar to finalize your plans.
