The Mayflower Renaissance DC got an instant facelift last night as Hollywood and D.C.’s brightest descended on its famed Grand Ballroom.
The second best address in D.C. has thrown several inaugural balls throughout its 85-year old history as well as hosted guests from Presidents and foreign dignitaries to Monica Lewinsky and Elliot Spitzer.
Fast forward to 2010 and history was made once again as Capitol File magazine, Renaissance Hotels and Bing hosted the annual White House Correspondent’s Dinner after party. High-profile guests like Kim Kardashian, Dennis Quaid, Bobby Flay, Chris Tucker, Tory Burch, Wolf Blitzer and Ewan McGregor couldn’t stop gushing about President Obama’s comedic chops at the Dinner. And everyone agreed that the Mayflower was THE place to be in D.C.
San Francisco is no stranger to top notch cuisine, warranting little speculation as to why the NYC-based Bromberg Brothers were bringing their Blue Ribbon cookbook launch to the city by the Bay for a celebration at one of our very own properties- The Renaissance Stanford Court.
The buzz of the night, besides the fine wine and exceptional fare, was the property’s Fornou’s Ovens which served as one of the brothers’ first cooking inspirations- sparking a career of successful culinary ventures and satisfied palates. The brothers’ strong personal attachment to the property served as the perfect ingredient to the event, definitely making it one for the (cook)books.
Climbing from the wreckage of WWI, 1920’s Paris was a celebration of culture and creativity. This spirit, as we climb from this Great Recession, is alive and well in today’s Paris, notes the blog Cruising The Past. Citing the Renaissance Vendome as 2010’s “Best Boutique Hotel in Paris,” they point to the vibrant play of Paris past and present in every corner of the hotel; design, style, service. “Restrained and luxurious,” they rave, suggesting “it’s your personal address in Paris.” Pack the steamer trunk, book the transatlantic crossing, and celebrate yesterday, tomorrow at the Vendome.
And, not only is Renaissance Paris Vendome a top boutique hotel, it is one of only 12 five-star hotels in Paris — joining such illustrious company as the George V, THE Ritz, the Plaza Athenee! Continue below to see what a 5-Star beauty looks like.
San Franciscan’s will remember December 14, 2009 as the day that the 49ers beat the Cardinals. It was a nationally viewed Monday Night game. Frank Gore rushed for his second highest yardage of the season. The 49er defense forced 7 turnovers by the Cardinals. It was a momentous night for the bay area.
And to top it off, local heroes and a Renaissance Hotel favorite, Train peformed live at half-time providing added entertainment to the already electrified stadium — just one of their stops on their tour of the local bay area. The other stop? Renaissance’s historic Stanford Court Hotel. The band made this hotel their home base during their stay where a few lucky fans and some surprised guests were able to meet the whole crew including their lead singer Pat Monahan, guitarist Jimmy Stafford and drummer Scott Underwood.
Read on for details about the event, to see exclusive photos, preview their latest album, and while you’re at it catch a clip of their latest cameo on CSI:NY…
It’s the end of the year. A new beginning. A countdown to the journeys ahead. And a time for cheers and champagne.
New Years is perhaps one of the most extravagant, elegant and joyous times of the year. And at Renaissance we know all about it.
This year celebrate New Years in style with packages around the globe. Whatever your fancy Renaissance has it covered from the start of the night to the morning after breakfast.
Earlier this year we mentioned Raphael Saadiq’s new album and tour. We were really excited about his return, so excited in fact that we were a sponsor of his tour. While on the road Raphael stopped by for frequent meet and greets at our hotel. And let us tell you, the man has it together: charm, style and substance. Take a look at some up, close and personal shots from the smooth troubadour’s visit to The Renaissance Mayflower Hotel.
Doesn’t get much more local than this: Supermodel Hilary Rhoda, from the DC area and of Estee Lauder fame, just appeared on the cover of the local glossy, Capital File Magazine. Rhoda told POLITICO it was gratifying to appear on the cover of the local magazine “because it’s a much more personal thing than just being in a magazine.” Her celebration capped off a year that included being part of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and the face of Estee Lauder. The lavish affair was held at none other than the Town & Country Bar at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in DC. It was truly an evening that hit home.
Congrats to Hilary on her fantastic year…she looks fabulous. Thanks to Politico.com for the scoop.
No, its not another man made island that is home to the likes of David Beckham. It’s the name of one of the top restaurants in Dubai and the focus of one of the regions hottest cooking shows called Ma Osama Atyab. The team behind Spice Island (of Renaissance Dubai Hotel fame) was recently invited to appear on the cooking show due to the popularity of the restaurant. Spice Island is a new buffet concept in Dubai that features six international cooking stations and for the show the culinary team demonstrated one dish from each station ranging from sushi to quesadilla to pesto, arrabiata, and cream-based pasta — not your typical middle-eastern fare.

Whether it was Feng Shui, good juju or just a space designed to let the ideas flow, the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel proved to have just what the founders of Bill Me Later needed to get things off the ground. Bill Me Later, a Baltimore area online payments company that was snapped up by eBay/Paypal for $945 million last year, began in the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace, where its first office was located.
