Hanson Rocks Renaissance Esmeralda

Discovered when they were teenagers and still rocking out now as grown men, Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson — better known simply as the pop-rock band Hanson — played a special set for guests at Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa’s Stir Lounge in March.

It was clear that there were devotees in the crowd: some fans had followed the group all the way from L.A. and Las Vegas, and one girl even carried a picture that she’d owned for 10 years just to have them sign it. Still, whether the crowd remembered Hanson from Top 40 radio or from tween magazines, when the brothers belted out their classic anthem “MMMBop,” there wasn’t a single person in the place that wasn’t singing along.

ELEW Rocks Renaissance Long Beach

Having previously performed at the TED conference in 2009, it was only fitting that ELEW return to the RLife LIVE stage at Renaissance Long Beach to give this year’s TED attendees another energetic show.

Guests danced in the aisles and nursed signature drinks at SIP Lounge while ELEW and his accompanying drummer and upright bassist pounded out familiar hits in their trademark jazz and rock crossover genre “rockjazz,” earning special props for their Coldplay number and rendition of “Sweet Home Alabama.”

Trust us, you’ve never seen a pianist do this before.

Monday Night Heroes

By R Life, posted Jan 5th 2010 at 11:22AM

San Franciscan’s will remember December 14, 2009 as the day that the 49ers beat the Cardinals.  It was a nationally viewed Monday Night game.  Frank Gore rushed for his second highest yardage of the season.  The 49er defense forced 7 turnovers by the Cardinals.  It was a momentous night for the bay area.

And to top it off, local heroes and a Renaissance Hotel favorite, Train peformed live at half-time providing added entertainment to the already electrified stadium — just one of their stops on their tour of the local bay area. The other stop? Renaissance’s historic Stanford Court Hotel. The band made this hotel their home base during their stay where a few lucky fans and some surprised guests were able to meet the whole crew including their lead singer Pat Monahan, guitarist Jimmy Stafford and drummer Scott Underwood.

Train Travel

By R Life, posted Nov 21st 2009 at 8:41PM

When it comes to music, Los Angeles natives (Los Angelenos, thank you very much) seem to think their city is the center of the world. But this year, Train is taking the spotlight a bit further to the north with their new hit album “Save me San Francisco.”

Watch the first video “Hey Soul Sister” above.

Train will be performing live in San Francisco December 14th. Stay tuned for information on how you can win a chance to attend meet-and-greet with the band at The Stanford Court Renaissance San Francisco Hotel.

We love our iPod as much as the next R-lifer. But sometimes you have to take the earbuds out and experience the music live.

That’s why we are so psyched for Raphael Saadiq’s return to the stage this year. He’ll be hitting the road for a series of fall and winter tour dates beginning in Seattle on November 16 and concluding in Minneapolis on December 16 and Renaissance Hotels has the exclusives on his tour.

We Got The Beat

Rat-a-tat-tat, baby. Jazz has always been an improvisation. We like to scat as much as much as any R-Lifer, but sometimes it’s simply best left to the professionals. Take jazz pianist Eric Lewis, for example, when he took the stage at last Wednesday’s VIP kickoff at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel for the Atlantic Magazine’s “First Draft in History” event.
