Jay-Z, despite rumored retirement, just came out with a new single and a video to accompany it. “Young Forever” is a twist on the classic “Forever Young”, and the song features breakout artist, Mr. Hudson. But Mr. Hudson isn’t news to us. In fact, Mr. Hudson performed the song, albeit the self-proclaimed best rapper alive, atop Renaissance 57 in New York back in September. And now the star will be appearing with Jay-Z at a series of concerts in England next month.

The pair even performed the hit on SNL this past weekend.  What can we say? Renaissance is just cool like that. Renaissance concert today, best friends with Jay-Z tomorrow.

Any R-Lifer worth his salt in sequins knows what a good party will do for the soul. It won’t exactly soothe it, but it will definitely bring it back to life.

We hit up the Renaissance New York Hotel 57’s launch party in search of just that kind of resuscitation. We weren’t disappointed.

Mr Hudson Rooftop Concert

Here’s more live concert footage on the rooftop of Renaissance New York Hotel 57 with the stunning Chrysler Building as a backdrop at the September 17th Renaissance New York/Paris launch party. See for yourself why the police almost shut down the party according to NME music blog.

“People came out on to balconies and roof terraces around the block and started waving and dancing along. The lighting man started using the lights as searchlights, felt like some Batman behaviour. This was a once in a lifetime party,” he (Mr Hudson) said of the New York Fashion Week show at the Renaissance Hotel.

“The police turned up halfway through the set. The actual police, not the band – though I believe Sting lives nearby. Someone must’ve complained so they repeatedly ordered our soundman Pete to turn the system off, but being an original gangster he just shook his head and turned it up! Thanks Pete. I owe you one.”

For the uninitiated, allow us to introduce you to Mr. Hudson, nee Benjamin Hudson McIldowie. Mr Hudson, is an English R&B pop artist who recently signed to music producer Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Check back with RLife for more information about his upcoming world tour and access to VIP events at Renaissance Hotels (or RenHotels.com for short).

He has listed various influences, most notably Chet Baker, David Bowie, The Police, Andre 3000, Marvin Gaye, The Specials, billie Holiday, Rosster, Ella Fizgerald and Dizzee Rascal. Buy the songs on iTunes: Mr Hudson
