Congratulations to 1500° for being the only restaurant in Florida named to Esquire magazine’s prestigious list of Best New Restaurants of 2011! This hotly anticipated list was carefully curated by renowned food and wine author John Mariani, who gushed about the Eden Roc Renaissance’s farm-to-table restaurant on Miami Beach.

“It’s big, it’s splashy, it’s got a poolside patio and a faux-zebra-fabric banquette — you sit there wondering when the Guess photo shoot is going to start,” wrote Mariani, who compared the grilled-peach salad with blue cheese, candied pecans, and honey vinaigrette to the famously sweet Esther Williams, the classic Hollywood synchronized swimmer who performed in the pools of South Beach.

ELLE Spa to Open in Miami Beach

If you’re the type who takes pampering seriously, listen up: this June, Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach opens the ELLE Spa, an elite 22,000 square foot luxury spa from ELLE, the world’s largest fashion magazine.

This is the ultimate combination of indulgence and style: treat yourself to ELLE-inspired treatments like “Doctor’s Orders” and “Forever 25″ with prestige skin and beauty products, book celebrity esthetician Tammy Fender for a personalized facial, or get a massage that incorporates the signature ELLE scent. Afterward, take a dip in the hot whirlpool or cold plunge, or take a minute to unwind in the steam sauna before settling in the relaxation lounge.

In addition to massages and skincare procedures, the Spa features a boutique hair and nail salon (get a mani-pedi with specially developed Essie nail polish colors “Eden,” a neon pink, or can’t-missi-it coral “Roc,” sold only at ELLE Spa). Spa visitors can also make use of the 24-hour beachfront fitness center, and have drinks and a light bite on the rooftop in a VIP cabana.

Stop by for an individual procedure, or book in advance for a bridal package or all-day couple VIP Suite retreat with oceanfront views, rooftop dining, chocolates and champagne. Check out the photos, and we’ll see you soon:

Thievery Corporation Joins Forces with RLife LIVE

By R Life, posted Nov 12th 2010 at 9:55AM

One of the most notable differences between short-lived trendy music and long-lasting classic music is genre. Many respected musicians with ongoing careers tend to bend genres, experiment with sound, and play music because they love it – not because they care about a fad genre. Thievery Corporation is a band that has successfully defied genre. The duo has mixed and mashed their varying tastes, and the well-received eclectic result has kept them playing (and selling out shows) over the last 14 years.

Recently, Thievery Corporation brought their talent to RLifeTM LIVE. After showcasing their songs at the Capiz Lounge inside Renaissance Boston Waterfront and the Lobby Bar at Eden Roc Renaissance in Miami, members, Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, mingled with the guests. Word on the street is that our guests enjoyed themselves… all night long. (Check out photos from the Eden Roc performance here.)

Inspired by music from across the globe, (dub, jazz, reggae, Indian Classical, Middle Eastern, etc.) Thievery Corporation has created a unique sound that we’re happy to bring to Renaissance guests who will, undoubtedly, be inspired by their music.

1500° Opens in Miami

Eden Roc Renaissance’s brand new restaurant, 1500°, just opened… and with a bang. The farm-to-table, steakhouse-leaning restaurant has found a happy home in Miami. With vibrant and seasonal cuisine, 1500° is quickly earning its reputation as a delicious and green spot to dine in South Florida. Seating 160, the restaurant offers an elegant and still welcoming environment for those in the area.

1500° is also a go-to spot for art-appreciators. Both culinary and visual art enrich the restaurant and help it to stand out in a city filled with restaurants. Executive Chef Paula DaSilva is no stranger to talent-induced limelight. As a star of the television hit, Hell’s Kitchen, DaSilva’s work at 1500° has been widely lauded despite the short time the spot has been open.

Peter Tunney has built his visual art career on messages. Whether through words or collages, Tunney’s art conveys resounding messages in beautiful ways. Tunney’s collage-esque art now drapes over the walls of 1500°.

Excellent cooking is one thing. Excellent cooking prepared with local food and paired with remarkable art is an entirely different thing… it’s Eden Roc’s new restaurant, 1500°.

Check out restaurant photos here, and see more of the Peter Tunney and his collage after the jump

Always up for a little charity work, Eva Longoria kicked off the Rally for Kids with Cancer Scavenger Cup in Miami Beach on Friday evening (October 16).
Having flown into town the previous evening, the “Desperate Housewives” actress looked beautiful in blue as she spoke to attendees at the Eden Roc Renaissance Hotel about the PADRES Contra El Cáncer backed fundraising effort.
