Oktoberfest isn’t the only reason to visit Munich—but it’s a good one. Every year, the city’s center takes part in a two-and-a-half-week festival that encourages patrons to gorge on meats, starches, and, you guessed it, beer.
Dating back to 1810, Oktoberfest has left many a traveler aching in the morning, unable to get out of bed in time for an early breakfast. If you’re attending Oktoberfest this year and fear the same fate of those hungover before you, Renaissance Munich has a solution: a Hangover Breakfast.
The hotel will be offering a special breakfast, served until 2pm, during the festival. Contact Renaissance Munich for more information and remember to roll out of bed before 2pm if you want to chow down on some food that will absorb all of that tasty fall beverage from the night before.

During World Cup season, it’s hard not to want to be there…you know…there. But since we don’t yet have a hotel in South Africa, we watch, celebrate, and mourn the same way most people in the rest of the world do: from other locations.
Supporting the USA is done easily enough from almost anywhere in the country—walk into a sports bar, buy a drink, watch, cheer, yell, exit, repeat. Want to support other teams that are doing well from their own home base? Well, we recommend these hotels—not just because they’re Renaissance, but because they also are offering some pretty sweet deals for guests.

Germany: a place where you can get really tasty beer. Germany: a place where you can also get really tasty wine—and bike along the Mosel River trekking through vineyards as you pass them by.
The steepest vineyard in Europe isn’t all that far from Renaissance Karlsruhe. Bremmer Calmont, a vineyard boasting a 65 degree angle, is steep with history and rich with grapes that make some of the reportedly best Riesling out there. A couple hours on the road from Renaissance Karlsruhe will lead you to this world renowned wine destination that sits atop the sparkling Mosel River, which makes for a biker’s dream ride.
Want some grub with all that wine? Check out the Candlelight Culinary Getaway package being offered at the hotel until December 31st.

If the European Union titles you the European Capital of Culture 2010, you’ve got a lot to live up to. Especially if you’re The German Metropolis Ruhr (close to Dusseldorf, Cologne, Essen, and Dortmund), an area that was once the hub of the industrial revolution.
Industry and modern culture don’t seem to really go hand-in-hand, now do they? Well, since its days of booming industry, the area has transformed and now boasts Europe’s largest mall, tons of exhibition venues, museums and theme parks and a buzzing arts scene.
If you’re on the hunt for some European culture, now’s your chance. Now through April 18, stay two nights at the Renaissance Bochem and receive a third night for free when you pay with Visa. Bitte schön. (That means you’re welcome.)
