When you visit New York City, you will, we promise you, do a lot of walking. Vacationers often find themselves exhausted in the city—feeling the burn of leg muscles they didn’t know they had. Other travelers just want to get dolled up or pampered in the city that seriously never sleeps. And so, as you can imagine, spas are all over New York. But finding a spa in the city isn’t the hard part—it’s finding a spa that will give you exactly what you’re looking for while here. Whether you’re staying at Renaissance New York Hotel 57 or Renaissance Times Square, these three spas are just a hop, skip, and a traffic-dodging jump away.
Check them out after the jump…
This Upper East Side spa at 81st and Lexington is run by a Brazilian woman who has waxing down to a science. A glass of wine, fresh fruit, water, tea, and even cookies will likely await you if you make your appointment for late afternoon when things are winding down. Waxing is what Rosangela is known best for, but facials and eyebrow shaping are also expertly done here.
At Central Park West, you’ll find Faina European Spa (58th between 8th and 9th). Tucked away into a massive, fancy building, you might not expect what you find when you open the door: an oasis in one of the busiest sections of town. Go here for your body treatments. The lavender sea salt body scrub will leave you feeling cleaner than you ever have.
Ever want a massage that just gets the job done? You’ll find that at Graceful—especially if you get the House Massage. It might hurt a little if you don’t ask your masseuse to go easy, but the pain is totally worth it. The masseuses at this spa know how to get all the kinks and aches out of your system, one strong motion at a time. The spa is actually tiny and well-hidden at 58th and 2nd, but when you walk in the door, you’ll see framed reviews from every major New York publication hanging from the walls. And that’s for a reason.
