One of the world finest hotel properties is the former headquarters of an insurance company. How’s that, you ask? The Renaissance London Chancery Court Hotel (which, yes, originally housed a Holborn insurance company) was recently noted as “an excellent example of historic preservation” where “rooms are sophisticated.” The Cuban mahogany, French walnut and original art pieces are only a few improvements made to the original castle-like Edwardian building. Need more insurance? It was voted into the Gold List 2010 by a poll of more than 25,000 Conde Nast Traveler readers.
