Some foodies are food bloggers and some food bloggers are Penang lovers. Take CK Lam, for instance. She’s the voice behind What2See—a food blog dedicated to Penang. As she meanders from restaurant to restaurant and hotel to hotel, sometimes she finds the combination of the two a home for her new favorite food.
After a recent visit to Sagano at Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel, Lam decidedly likes the on-site restaurant.
“Everything was sublimely delicious,” she writes mid-piece. In closing, she finishes by telling readers, “The service was top class and Chef Ito creations were excellent from the start.”
CK, wherever you’re currently exploring – we just wanted you to know that we’re flattered.
Check out more delicious photos of Sagano after the jump.

Swa-Rai is a fashion and lifestyle blog that digs Bar Novo, located inside the Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel. The blog’s owner, Rai, recently attended the bar’s one-year anniversary party and the launch of the RLifeTM LIVE series, which featured a performance by Neon Trees.
To describe Bar Novo’s Strawberry Rhubarb Collins, she writes: “Absolutely one of the best cocktails I’ve had in Chicago!!” She had an equally glowing review of the made-in-house chips and ‘Truffalo’ wings: “The food was absolutely superb. I will have to make many visits back to try all other tasty items on the menu!”
We think Rai enjoyed her night with us. And we can’t blame her. It’s an ideal Downtown Chicago hangout spot. Now just think about that Rhubarb Cocktail between now and your next Chicago trip, and we’ll see you at Bar Novo.

The city of Pittsburgh is often cited as the home of pierogies. In fact, Pittsburgh Pirates fans await the Great Pierogi Race each year—a contest in which participants dress up in pierogi costumes and race between innings of the game. (Note to self: attend Great Pierogi Race ASAP.) So it should come as no surprise that the Renaissance Pittsburgh’s restaurant has now put these tasty little bundles of goodness on their menu – with an upscale spin.
The Braised Short Rib Pierogi is made in-house from scratch. Its filling consists of shredded short rib beef and creamed leeks. Its glaze is braised broth butter sauce. And the satisfaction of eating one of these? It’s undeniable. So whether you’re dining in the hotel’s main dining space, Braddock’s, or the more informal Braddock’s Street Side Grill, get to Pittsburgh and enjoy these doughy dumplings for yourself.

Eden Roc Renaissance’s brand new restaurant, 1500°, just opened… and with a bang. The farm-to-table, steakhouse-leaning restaurant has found a happy home in Miami. With vibrant and seasonal cuisine, 1500° is quickly earning its reputation as a delicious and green spot to dine in South Florida. Seating 160, the restaurant offers an elegant and still welcoming environment for those in the area.
1500° is also a go-to spot for art-appreciators. Both culinary and visual art enrich the restaurant and help it to stand out in a city filled with restaurants. Executive Chef Paula DaSilva is no stranger to talent-induced limelight. As a star of the television hit, Hell’s Kitchen, DaSilva’s work at 1500° has been widely lauded despite the short time the spot has been open.
Peter Tunney has built his visual art career on messages. Whether through words or collages, Tunney’s art conveys resounding messages in beautiful ways. Tunney’s collage-esque art now drapes over the walls of 1500°.
Excellent cooking is one thing. Excellent cooking prepared with local food and paired with remarkable art is an entirely different thing… it’s Eden Roc’s new restaurant, 1500°.
Check out restaurant photos here, and see more of the Peter Tunney and his collage after the jump…

Dean James Max, a chef who’s been dubbed the “Best Chef in South Florida,” is heading due west. The talk-worthy culinary star hasn’t yet named his new Dallas restaurant, but we know a couple of important things.
1. The restaurant will serve upscale modern Mexican cuisine. Mmm.
2. The restaurant will be situated inside Renaissance Dallas.
Slated to open its doors mid-January, the restaurant will dress up Mexican food in a way that’s sure to leave Renaissance guests and Dallas diners hungry for more.
In a recent Dallas Observer blog, Max discussed his vision for the food: “I’m going to try to do a different spin, more original to what you’d get in Oaxaca,” said Max. “I don’t want it just to be rice and beans with melted cheese.”
And for that, Mr. Dean James Max, we salute you. Usually we’d encourage the excessive use of cheese on, well, just about anything. But hey, it sounds like you know what you’re doing… so bring on the top-notch Mexican grub.

If you know about organic food, you’ve probably heard Nora Pouillon’s name before. This Austria-born chef and restaurateur isn’t just a well-versed foodie—she’s a hero to most foodies.
Nora owns two restaurants in DC, one of which is the first certified organic restaurant in the USA, aptly named Nora. Ninety-five percent of the food used at Nora comes from certified organic farmers, and the restaurant has been named one of the “Top 10 Healthiest Restaurants” by Health Magazine.
Nora was recently at Pinxo, located inside Renaissance Paris Vendome, to promote “A Taste of The Capital Region: Maryland, DC, Virginia.” Nora chose to work with Fabrice Dubos, chef of Pinxo, and his team on a menu that featured Butternut Squash Soup with Pepitas, Crispy Soft-shell Crabs on Grilled Corn Succotash with Old Bay Aioli, Red Wine Braised Grass-fed Beef Short Ribs with Celeraic Puree and Garlicky Kale, and Apple Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream.
We can see why Nora approves of the palette these guys have.
