Tradition matters in England. That’s why Renaissance Manchester works hard to keep the Elizabethan Era alive.

The Renaissance Manchester hotel is located in the heart of Manchester’s entertainment district, which juxtaposes historic England against modern Manchester. Antique stores that hold England’s history dear, especially the important Elizabethan Era, are strewn across Manchester.

If shopping is your vice, then the Shopping Package at the Renaissance Manchester hotel will help you kick-start your quest for remnants of the Elizabethan Era.

The package includes:

• Deluxe accommodations for two nights
• Dinner, bed, and breakfast rate for two adults
• Twenty pounds in shopping vouchers per room for an exclusive High Street store
• Late check-out

The Crescent City Speaks: Pere Marquette

The air in New Orleans these days is thick, but there’s something besides just the usual humidity in the air.  It’s thick with the sounds of music shaking the city, thick with bold colors, thick with the aroma of Cajun spices escaping kitchens everywhere—but thick with something else, too… something that hasn’t collectively been present in the city since before Hurricane Katrina: excitement.

The last five years haven’t been easy on the Big Easy and the aftermath of Katrina can still be seen today.  But the city has been recovering slowly and when the Saints took home the Super Bowl title this year, well, it seems as though everything started to officially look up.

85 Years As DC’s Second Best Address

By R Life, posted Mar 8th 2010 at 11:26AM

Mayflower_Hotelhotels_tag

When the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC first opened 85 years ago, President Truman quickly tagged it the “second best address” in Washington. 85 years of being the second best address in DC is kind of a big deal, especially since the hotel is now officially the longest continually operated hotel in the DC area.

It’s what you might call a newsworthy event. Fox 5 reporter, Holly Morris, recently interviewed the hotel’s general manager, Satinder Palta, about the hotel’s anniversary.

“It’s been a place where history’s been made and changed,” he said.  And he’s right about that. Even recently, history was made at the hotel when President Barack Obama stayed at the Renaissance Mayflower during his inauguration.  “It’s just a very exciting time for the hotel,” Palta told Morris.

And, it is.  The hotel, which stood through the flower child era of free love, peace, and happiness in DC is now offering the Flower Power package through June 6, 2010.  What it includes:

• Deluxe guestroom accommodations
• Complimentary breakfast for two
• Complimentary flower themed drinks for two
at our restaurant

What it doesn’t include:  Braided flower headbands.  But you can fashion those yourself, right?

It seems like good things in Thailand come in twos. Pairs of elephants, flashy silver earrings, and the word “tuk tuk.” Knowing this, we couldn’t have just one hotel in the vibrant, sparkling country. So we recently opened a new location in Bangkok.

The Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel is a 333 room building, equipped with not only four restaurants with mouth-watering menus, but three lounge areas, perfect for regrouping after a long day touring Bangkok’s bustling streets.  Or, to take complete relaxation a step further, visit the hotel’s spa where you can look onto the city skyline while being massaged toward nirvana.

GOLF Magazine Says Bay Harbor Isn’t just a “Fair” Way

By R Life, posted Feb 22nd 2010 at 1:30PM

The elite company on Golf Magazine’s 2010 Premier Resorts reads like a golfer’s “Links To Do Before I Die” list. This makes the Gold Medal that 8000 readers have just bestowed on Renaissance Michigan’s Inn At Bay Harbor so much more remarkable.

Yes, it’s the first award ever for a Michigan property. And yes, you’ll note most of the others are in sunny tourist magnets (hint: Michigan summers are legendary, trust us). But the real story here isn’t just the courses—stunning for even non-golfers to admire—but that the award casts a wide net, judging the amenities and ambiance of the resort beyond the greens and fairways. Congratulations to this jewel perched high on the lake’s gorgeous shore; consider booking your summer plans now.

Gold Standard

One of the world finest hotel properties is the former headquarters of an insurance company. How’s that, you ask? The Renaissance London Chancery Court Hotel (which, yes, originally housed a Holborn insurance company) was recently noted as “an excellent example of historic preservation” where “rooms are sophisticated.” The Cuban mahogany, French walnut and original art pieces are only a few improvements made to the original castle-like Edwardian building.  Need more insurance? It was voted into the Gold List 2010 by a poll of more than 25,000 Conde Nast Traveler readers.
