We at Renaissance are known for reliably providing our customers a parallel experience no matter where in the world they are visiting us. However, there is no doubt that certain properties rise above the standard expectations. Some properties boast world-renowned chefs, some are mere yards from some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, some have views of breathtaking landmarks.
But only an elite handful of Renaissance properties are most proud of their architecture itself. Renaissance Tianjin Lakeview is one such property- hailed for seamlessly combining beauty with function. The 368-room hotel blends distinctive modern designs with a touch of local flair. The hotel offers three spectacular dining experiences – each one boasting an interior flair that reflects the cuisine at hand with a modern upscale twist.
Additionally, the hotel houses approximately 4,000 square meters of event space. A grand ballroom with seating room for 1,000, 10 top-of-the-line meeting spaces, and extensive banquet facilities are styled in a manner unique to the culture of the region, while upholding modern architectural techniques throughout.
Renaissance Tianjin Lakeview is truly an amazing place to visit. For those of you who can’t make it to Tianjin this year, we’ve done our best to capture the beauty and essence of the hotel order to share it with you. Please browse through the photo album on our facebook page to experience the awe-inspiring beauty for yourself!

We at Renaissance are extremely proud of our partnership with Joya Studios – a fantastic fragrance design studio based in Brooklyn, NY. Together with the Joya team, we have crafted a delightful scent in the form of candles and diffusers that we know all Renaissance visitors will love and will cherish as a part of their Renaissance stay.
Last week we headed to Brooklyn to see the process from start to beginning for ourselves. Joya Studios not only collaborates with it’s customers to create the perfect scent, but they also have an in-house ceramics studio and artists who are responsible for designing and actually creating the candle holders. They then scent and pour the wax, insert the wick, individually package the candles, and and ship the candles out to Renaissance locations all over the world right from their studio.
Frederick Bouchardy, founder and CEO of Joya Studios, believes that the olfactory sense is just as important to an experience, a memory, or a feeling, as any of the other four primary senses. For that reason, he worked hand-in-hand with us to create this unique scent that we truly believe encapsulates a Renaissance experience. Using an ancient Japanese candle-making technique, Joya Studios is one of the few candle making studios that really owns the entire process from beginning to end, and maintains a handmade touch in everything that it does.
Enjoy these photos from the creation process, and we hope that you can experience the Renaissance scent soon!
Candles and diffusers are on display in limited locations, as well as for sale at Shop Renaissance.

Here at Renaissance, we have dedicated ourselves to making every Renaissance stay – whether for business or for pleasure – our perfect gift to you. In case that isn’t enough to get you through the gift giving season, however, we’ve put together a fool-proof guide to help you give the toughest people on your list the perfect gift this holiday season.

THE PHOTOGRAPHER: We all have the friend or relative who is the dedicated photographer of the bunch. But where’s the fun in taking the pictures if you don’t have a fun new way to share them? Modern technology meets antiquated sharing in the iPhone app “postagram.” iPhone users can instantly send photos and a message via postcard through the mail to friends around the world. The app is free, but we can guarantee the photog in your life will love receiving a $18.80 credit which will score them the ability to send 21 Postagrams.
THE CHEF: Everyone loves the chef in their life. They invite you over for dinner, they bring you a cake on your birthday. But what to give the person with the meticulously stocked kitchen? Stick to something fun to lighten up all that hard work they do in the kitchen. We love the “Karate Salad Chopper,” and so will your chef friend. http://onespot.wsj.com/gadgets/2011/10/03/f29a7/karate-salad-chopper
THE SPORTS FANATIC: Sports fanatics don’t just want to know who scored the winning touchdown in last night’s game – they want to know where that player is from, how old he was when he started playing, and what his annual salary is. For the sports lover in your life, give the gift of a subscription to ESPN magazine, which provides the inside scoop that they’re dying to tell you about.
THE HOST: Every holiday there’s the family that hosts the big, blow-out party of the season. Always the host, they are constantly seeking ways to jazz up their party to make it stand out from the year before. So as not to impose on the party decor or menu, show up with an unexpected liqueur or wine that party guests can enjoy hearing about and sipping on.
THE FASHIONISTA: Gifting clothes is too tricky – it’s virtually impossible to know whether you’re getting someone the right size. For the fashionista in your life, stick to a simple pair of stud earrings like these Roped Pave Posts from www.baublebar.com.
THE PICKY ONE: Ok, sometimes there’s just no hope. Some people just won’t like their gift, no matter what it is, because they didn’t pick it out themselves. We all have a picky one in our lives. Rather than try to fight it, go for the tried and true: either a gift card to either their favorite store, or a Visa gift card that they can use anywhere.

We’ve compiled a list of our top three sites for booking last-minute airfare to help you begin your Renaissance getaway as stress-free as possible!
1) Hipmunk.com scours the internet for your requested itinerary and delivers the information in a simple and logical format. We love the simplicity and thoroughness of Hipmunk.com.
2) Kayak.com compares hundreds of travel sites at once, cutting out the extra step of checking several sites for the best fare. The more flexible you are with your schedule and destination, the better your chances are of finding a great deal. It makes sense that soulful R&B rebel Hamdan al-Abri couldn’t choose just one city for our Guest Navigator project. A multinational man with an international sound, Al-Abri calls Dubai home, but Miami is where he went to art school. This eclectic artist, whose debut self-titled EP has earned him buzz in Rolling Stone, is a tastemaker who has pioneered soul music in the Middle East. But he still goes to Miami to see old friends and dig for fashion gems in his favorite thrift store. Here he takes us on a tour of his preferred haunts in his two favorite cities.

The Renaissance Doha City Center Hotel celebrated its public launch last night with an enthralling RLife LIVE performance by acclaimed artist Hamdan Al-Abri. In the heart of Qatar’s dazzling capital, the cosmopolitan crowd danced late into the night to Al-Abri’s soulful R&B. Accompanied by his DJ, Yasser Anderson, his positive lyrics and (other)worldly beats perfectly captured the excitement of Doha, a rapidly expanding, international metropolis on the shores of the Persian Gulf.
Born in Zanzibar to a famous musician father and a mother who defied convention by becoming a doctor, Al-Abri is always confronting and stretching the so-called limits of his music. This has earned him widespread buzz, and performances with Erykah Badu, Ziggy Marley, Kanye West, Joss Stone, Kelly Rowland, and Arrested Development. After developing his unique sound touring with his band ABRI, Al-Abri recently decided to go solo, and just released his self-titled debut EP in late October. But don’t take it from us! Listen for yourself with this FREE download. Al-Abri’s sound certainly resonated with fans last night, who grooved to his electrifying performance, which included “Rebirth,” a song recently used in an episode of the hit crime drama C.S.I.. A pioneer of soul music in the Middle East, Al-Abri is set to break out worldwide with music that captivates and soothes. It was certainly a performance we’ll never forget.

There are bands whose music you can’t stop listening to, and then there are bands whose live show can change your entire life. That’s Bad Rabbits, a slick funk five-piece with buckets of swagger and a singer, Fredua Boakye, whose ripping vocals have been compared to Prince. Their 2009 debut EP, Stick Up Kids, won hearts and bobbing heads from a party-ready audience just as diverse as the band itself.
These Boston natives have been busy touring ever since, sharing the stage with such pop heavyweights as Mike Posner, Travie McCoy, Far East Movement, and Foxy Shazam. Before they take a well-deserved break from the road, be sure to see them perform at one of our upcoming RLife LIVE shows:

11/17/2011 @ Renaissance Arlington Capital View
11/18/2011 @ Renaissance New York Times Square Hotel
